Though unconventional, Cassie’s journey from organic chemistry distillations, information systems, epidemiology, and biostatistics to sustainable digital health architecture has uniquely shaped her role at Cooper/Smith. This journey has equipped her with experience, knowledge, skills, and passion to create a culture of data for action within the public health sector. Cassie is an experienced Database Administrator and Analyst with a demonstrated history of consulting on HIV/AIDS and malaria specific public health initiatives. Skilled in Tableau, GIS, Epidemiology, Management, SOP Development, and Asana, Cassie is a strong information technology professional with a Master of Public Health focused in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from University of Southern California. In her current role with Cooper/Smith, Cassie works alongside the Ministry of Health in Malawi to strengthen and ensure high quality, routinely-available data and an ingrained culture of data use among health workers and policy makers in the health sector. Prior to Cooper/Smith, Cassie engaged in data consultancy with Vital Wave, analyzing collection materials and defining standard data models to create a prototype data dictionary to certify country-level malaria elimination. Cassie also served as the Senior Database Administrator (DBA) at the Fresno Housing Authority (FHA) in Fresno, California, guiding the agency’s data strategies and initiatives. During this time, she co-authored Fresno’s Update to the Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness, led three of our annual unsheltered homeless counts, which, cumulatively, trained over 500 volunteers and counted and surveyed over 6,000 homeless persons. Cassie was selected from a competitive nationwide process to engage in an 11-month intensive Tableau software training, developing and launching a collaborative reporting and data visualization system. This gallery of reports and dashboards is utilized by homeless providers across the nation.
